The Great Dividing Range runs down the east of Australia for more than 3,500 km, and only its highest section, the Australian Alps of New South Wales and Victoria, gets enough snow to ski. Perisher and Thredbo in the Snowy Mountains and Mt Buller, Falls Creek and Mt Hotham in the Victorian Alps are the main resorts, with lifts topping out around 2,000 m.
