Snow in the Coast Mountains
The Coast Mountains run along British Columbia’s Pacific coast, and Whistler Blackcomb, the largest ski resort in North America, sits in their southern section two hours from Vancouver. The range takes the full force of Pacific storms, so its snow is deep and, at Whistler’s low village elevation, often wet.
In our record Whistler averages about 17 to 18 snowy days at mid-mountain in December and January and 15 to 16 in February and March, more than any other resort in the Rockies or the Alps in this record.
When it snows
Whistler opens in late November and runs into May, with Blackcomb’s glacier extending the spring.
