About Revelstoke Mountain Resort

Revelstoke Mountain Resort opened in December 2007 on Mount Mackenzie, next to the town of Revelstoke. Its 1,713 m of vertical is described as the longest descent of any ski resort in North America.

The resort village sits at 512 m, and the main lift from it is the eight-person Revelation Gondola. The longest run, The Last Spike, is 15.2 km, and the resort reports an average of 10.5 m of snow a year.

The snow

Revelstoke has the biggest lift-served vertical in North America, 1,713 m from the base at 512 m to the top at 2,225 m, and it sits in the Selkirk Mountains, the heart of British Columbia’s interior powder belt. In our record it snows on about 17 days at mid-mountain in December and 14 to 16 in January and February, more than any resort in this record outside Japan and Whistler. The low base means the bottom of the mountain can be wet; the top is cold and deep. Snow was on the ground every Christmas Day in the last ten years.

Who it suits

Powder skiers and anyone who likes long descents: the vertical is the point, and the tree skiing and bowls off the top are as good as lift-served skiing gets. The resort is small in lifts and the town is a railway town, not a resort village. Heli- and cat-skiing operations fill the valley. Revelstoke is on the Ikon Pass and the Mountain Collective.

Getting there

Kelowna airport is about two and a half hours by road, Calgary about five. The Trans-Canada Highway through Rogers Pass closes for avalanche control after storms.
