The Pennine Alps hold the greatest concentration of 4,000 m peaks in the Alps, including the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa, along the Swiss-Italian border. Zermatt and Saas-Fee in the Valais and Cervinia in the Aosta Valley all ski on glaciers with lifts above 3,500 m, and Verbier sits at the range’s western end.
In our record the resorts here average about 12 to 13 snowy days at mid-mountain in December, January and March, with snowy days even in summer on the glaciers.
