About Zell am See-Kaprun

Zell am See sits at about 750 m on the shore of the Zeller See, with the Schmittenhöhe rising to 1,965 m directly above it. Kaprun lies in the next valley to the south.

The skiing

There are three ski mountains: the Schmittenhöhe with about 77 km of pistes, the Kitzsteinhorn glacier above Kaprun with about 61 km, and the Maiskogel, which is linked to the Kitzsteinhorn by cable car. The Kitzsteinhorn, the only glacier ski area in Salzburger Land, reaches 3,029 m and usually runs from October to May. A joint lift pass also covers the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn.
